We have had only a very modest response to our call for nominations for the next chair of the International Severe Acute Respiratory and Emerging Infections Consortium (ISARIC). This is a key position in an emerging global collaboration, and a tremendous opportunity for the right person to shape the future evolution of both ISARIC and more broadly the clinical research response to current and emerging threats. Please help us to identify our next generation of leadership by nominating individuals who could meet the challenges of guiding ISARIC’s progress. Self-nomination is encouraged!
ISARIC is a large and complex organization, representing researchers from all parts of the world, and spanning a spectrum of clinical disciplines from epidemiology and public health to infectious diseases and tropical medicine to intensive care. The next chair of ISARIC must understand this diversity, and have the scientific record and leadership skills to meld this diverse group of organizations into a dynamic and scientifically productive whole. He/she will be our voice in speaking to funders, researchers, professional bodies, and policy makers. The chair will also serve as the principal investigator on collaborative grants to support ISARIC activities.
A record of active involvement in the initial activities of ISARIC through engagement with one or more of the working groups or involvement with governance will be viewed favourably.
The term is 2 years with an option for renewal; the chair receives no salary support, although his/her expenses in conducting ISARIC business will be covered by the Consortium.
Please feel free to contact myself or any of the members of the nominating committee if you have questions about the process or position.
Please forward nominations with a letter of interest from, and the CV of the candidate to my attention by January 17, 2013.Thanks for your ongoing support of this activity, and for your engagement to ensure its continued success.
